Playing trains together. These two are beginning to enjoy playing together and I love watching them. (Of course their playing together also includes some fights, this particular day the fight involved throwing train tracks and trains at the other persons head. No blood though, so all is well.)

My first outside run of the year. Three (slow) miles. I love that there was no snow on the trail and I made it home before it started snowing again.

This is the only time of day when he is still. The only time of day when he isn't crawling or climbing (or crying). He just lets me hold him and rock him. He's not quite ready to give it up yet. Neither am I.

Witch's broom. She learned how to do this today, she caught on pretty quick and played with it all afternoon. I remember playing this when I was in elementary school. It was fun to teach her, she thought it was pretty cool.

Annual adult family dinner (but missing our youngest sister).
Japanese at our favorite restaurant. Good times!

Dinner time. He used to be a great eater, not picky, just happy to have food. Lately he has become hard to please. His favorite foods are peanut butter sandwich, cheerios, yogurt and apples. If we are eating anything other than those things the first thing that comes out his mouth is "I don't like ______" Today he asked what I was making. So I replied "dinner". Of course he said "I don't like dinner."

He calls it "meany bird game". He LOVES playing it. I hear the question "mom I play meany bird game?" multiple times a day. He uses the kitchen stool to get it down off the counter top and sits on the floor and plays it. He doesn't have much skill as far as winning the game, but he loves to watch those birds crash into stuff.

The girls made these big paper snowflakes with Grandma when they spent the night at her house a couple weeks ago. He loves looking at them and trying to touch them.

Sunday morning before church. Everyone is dressed and ready, everyone is happy, we were even on time today. The happiness was short lived. Within the first 10 minutes two kids had to be taken out to the hallway because they were crying. It was a long hour and 15 minutes. (One of these cute kids had to be taken out to the hallway 3 times because he just can't figure out what "whisper" means.)

We have been planning this special "date night" with her since she turned 8. We finally got around to planning it and found a babysitter for the younger kids. She decided she wanted to try fondue (she saw it on an episode of Madeline where they ate bread dipped in cheese fondue) so we made reservations at The Melting Pot. It turns out she didn't like the cheese fondue much but she loved the chocolate fondue.

It has been strangely warm around here lately. Today we spent the afternoon watching the kids ride their bikes and then walking to the park. She loves this bike (a pink princess bike that we bought from a secondhand store for $10 and added some training wheels).
Love her face in this photo. This is so her. Focused and determined.

He is one. He crawls everywhere (fast). He is not in a hurry to walk (I am good with that). He doesn't value sleep as much as I do (3am is his favorite time to wake me up). He loves to snuggle. He says "hi dad" and "ba ba"(bottle). I try and get him to say "mama", he just smiles. His brother and sisters think he is "so cute". I do too.

After too many lazy days, too much holiday food (or just too much food in general) and too much procrastination, I went to the gym today and attempted a two mile run. While it ended up more like a walk with some running mixed into it, I am glad I went. I am determined to get back into the habit of exercise.

Christmas Break is over. Back to school, back to early mornings. After a week of late nights and late mornings, getting up at 7am was tough. Everyone else in the house is still asleep, I love this time I get to spend with her one on one.
