We went to the park again today. (It went well, the baby only tried to run into the road once and I was successful at coaxing him back to play on the toys.)I thought that maybe if I took them to the park during the day, perhaps by the evening they would run out of energy and they would be calm and quiet before bedtime. Nope. It is 8:15pm and there is still way too much energy in this house.

We had a long distance birthday party today.

Him. Doing his thing at work. We miss him.

Because my kids have wonderful Grandparents we got to go to the waterslide tonight. It was so much fun! My kids had fun I had fun. Just a great night. I took my older son down the slow slide a few times but then thankfully my kids have fabulous Aunts and Uncles who are willing to take them down the other waterslides again and again and again and again...

Fine dining in the basement. Today was a laid back day, we didn't have anywhere we needed to be and I didn't feel like doing the cleaning and yelling until the children finally got their chores done lovingly helping the children get their chores done. :) So we just let it all go, no dishes, no laundry, no chores just playing and eating a lot of cookies and making messes (and there was some fighting and whining mixed in there too.)
The girls set up the card table and folding chairs and made a restaurant. On the menu was celery and green peas. We played restaurant at 1:00 in the afternoon, in our pajamas. Then we made lots of messes that we didn't clean up. I am sure I will regret it when I have to clean it all up tomorrow but it was still a good day.

(Side note: Of course on the day I "let it all go" the Home Teachers came to visit in the evening. By that time the kids were dressed but I was still in my pajamas. I felt super awesome sitting in my living room in my pajamas with my crazy hair talking to the home teachers in my very messy house.)

July 25, 2012

I snapped this photo just before she was leaving to go swimming with her Activity Days group. It has been so nice to have her around this Summer. She is such a big help around the house and with her younger sister and brothers. She is just fun to be around.

Pioneer Day! Sparklers out in the front yard with the neighbors.

July 23, 2012

Family history fun in honor of Pioneer Day tomorrow. Listening to stories about our ancestors and a contest to see who could complete a four generation family tree (first and last names) without asking for help from anyone else. (I did not win.)

July 22, 2012

Sunday morning.

July 21, 2012

Dancing in smoke in a wedding dress with a crown on. I love her!

(My dad was burning some branches in the fire pit and there was a lot of smoke.)

July 20, 2012

I took the oldest 3 with me to the rodeo. My parents buy tickets for the whole family every year during Ogden Pioneer Days. The kids look forward to it every year.

(My oldest girl wearing her new vest that she and her Grandma V. sewed together today especially for the rodeo.)

July 19, 2012

Tonight at a Relief Society activity at my church. My mom and all my sisters came (look at all that color coordination!:). My mom gave a lovely talk about visiting teaching and we sang a couple songs. It was good for us to all get together and sing. It was a good night.

July 18, 2012

My oldest reading a bed time story for the younger ones. She is so much help and always so willing to help with the bedtime routine. I came in the room after I had rocked the baby to sleep and saw them all sitting on the little bed reading a book and it just made me smile.
( The current favorite for the younger kids is "Old Hat New Hat" my boy knows all the words and it drives my younger daughter crazy that he says the words out loud while it is being read. )

July 17, 2012

At the splash pad today.

July 16, 2012

We are surrounded by great neighbors in our little neighborhood. My boys especially adore this neighbor and whenever he is out mowing lawns my oldest boy begs to go out and talk to him. My boy always has A LOT to say and lots of questions to ask.
. Here are a few that I heard him ask today.
What are you doing?
Is that your lawn mower?
Did you mow the lawn?
Do you have a dog?
Did you have a band aid?
Do you do fireworks?
and then back to
What are you doing?
My boy is not shy and the questions sometimes go on for a long, long time.

Sunday morning baths. She lays down in the tub and makes her hair swirly and says "Mom, tell me when I look like a mermaid. Okay?"

July 14, 2012

The youth in my neighborhood got to go on a "Pioneer Trek" this week. My oldest girl has been talking about it non-stop and wishing that she could have gone. This morning she announced that she and her younger sister were going on their own "Trek". They picked out their own clothes (obviously) and packed their little plastic baskets with a blanket, some sandwiches and some toys and they set off to walk around the neighborhood. Their plan was to go around the block 5 times (they also allotted time for bathroom breaks and snack breaks). Every time I looked out my window and saw them pass by I laughed out loud and wondered what the neighbors were thinking. :)

July 13, 2012

The reasons vary from night to night but the question is always the same,
"Mommy can I sweep in yours bed?"

Tonight his reason was because he was scared of the dark and because he was sure there were robots under his bed.

July 12, 2012

A delivery from UPS.
(We don't know the meaning of "handle with care" in this house.)

July 11, 2012

Laundry is a lot like a recurring nightmare.

July 10, 2012

8:45pm 86 degrees.

July 9, 2012

Bed time. Still with the bottle. He is way too big to still have a bottle. He really is, yet here we are, every night with a bottle rocking in the chair. Sometimes I just want to be able to put him in bed and not have to go through the whole routine of rocking and rocking. But sometimes I just want to hold him and remember how sweet he looks and how little yet big he is.

July 8, 2012

It might be time for new shoes.

July 7, 2012

Her latest idea is that she wants to be in charge of grocery shopping. As much as I want to let her do that, I am thinking she is not quite old enough (or tall enough) to do that yet. Today we compromised. She got to go into the store by herself and buy groceries (a bag of lettuce) and I waited in the car for her. She was pretty proud of herself.

July 6, 2012

Z. Family camp out (and movie).

July 5, 2012

Playing in the rain this morning.

July 4, 2012

Watching fireworks tonight at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

July 3, 2012

She jumped off the diving board for the first time today.
(I love that she plugs her nose, she is totally my kid.)

July 2, 2012

My boys.

July 1, 2012

At Sunday dinner today.
