When I walk the girls to the bus stop he comes along, wearing his pajamas and of course, a backpack.

August 29, 2012

First day of Kindergarten! She was excited but cautious, and pretty straight faced. She got right on the bus (she has been looking forward to riding the bus for a long time) and then when it was time for class she was happy to sit in her little chair and color with her new crayons.  She did say that her class room is "super hot" and her teacher* only lets her get "one drink".

* Her teacher is very nice and I am positive that she allows the students to get more than one drink. :)

August 28, 2012

They get a few minutes before bed to do some reading. They are supposed to read books, but tonight they were reading an advertisement for toys.

August 27, 2012

We went to the Brigham City temple open house tonight. It was beautiful.

(It was also kind of crowded and really hot, but still worth making the effort to take the kids and show them how beautiful the temple is.)

August 26, 2012

She turned 5 today. (5! How did that happen?)

August 25, 2012

At the pool today.

August 24, 2012

All together.

August 23, 2012

He had a long layover so he went to see the tallest building in the world. Pretty amazing.

August 22, 2012

First day of 4th grade.

August 21, 2012

I am looking forward to the more structured daily schedules and early bedtimes that come with school starting. This summer has been filled with both fun, happy days and really (really) long days that I thought would never end. But I will miss having all my kids home with me during the day. I really like these little people.

August 20, 2012

We went today to meet the girls' teachers for the new school year. While they were both excited, one was a little nervous. After meeting the teachers and going in the classrooms and finding their desks with their names tags they both went home happy and ready for school to start this week.

August 19, 2012

Sundays in Grandma and Poppa's backyard.

August 17, 2012

She got her ears pierced today. I promised her she could have her ears pierced when she was 8 years old. Tomorrow she turns 9 so today was the last possible day to make good on my promise. I wonder if this method of parenting by procrastination will work for me when it comes to dating and driver's licenses? :)

August 16, 2012

Their cousin come over to play today. I loved how they were playing side by side yet together. It was cute to listen to their problem solving skills as they tried to put the puzzles together (they did not want any help from me) and as soon as they were done they wanted to do them again.

August 15, 2012

Backyard water slide.

August 14, 2012

Back-to-school shopping.

August 13, 2012

My kids have spent the majority of this summer barefoot. Waking up late, running around in mismatched clothes, hair uncombed (but hopefully teeth brushed) playing outside until the sun goes down and the mosquitoes come out. But in about a week and a half it will be back to early bedtimes, shoes and socks, backpacks and alarm clocks. I am both dreading it and looking forward to it at the same time.

August 12, 2012

Sunday morning. They look very sweet and calm and innocent, but together these two cause a lot of chaos at church.

August 11, 2012

Pajamas are not just for sleeping.

August 10, 2012

10 years of wedded bliss.

"Bliss" being defined as hard work, a whole lot of compromise, highs and lows, ups and downs, good days, bad days, a lot of laughter and just plain old love for each other.

August 9, 2012

Oh the fair. The really hot, sort of stinky county fair.  I am not a fan of walking around outside on a hot day but we are going to do "fun" things this summer whether it is hot or not. So, my sister and I took the kids to the fair today in record time. In one hour and 45 minutes we saw the cows, the goats, the pigs, the horses (my girls paid 50 cents each to see the "smallest horse around") and the bunnies. We went and visited my mom at her booth, then we got the kids faces painted, played games and won prizes. And then we ran back to our air conditioned car and went to Wendy's drive up window and bought ice cream came home and put the little kids down for a nap. Fun for the day? Check!

August 8, 2012

They  like to play dressup when they go to Grandma's house. Today was over 90 degrees outside but they still dressed up and went out to play. He was mad because she wanted to play "princess" and he wanted to play "cowboy".

August 7, 2012

This is his latest hobby. He gets a step stool finds a light switch and entertains himself for quite a while. This hobby is so  much better than his last hobby which involved toilets and toilet paper.

August 6, 2012

She and her siblings spent the day with their aunt. They all came home happy and ready for bed. That makes me very happy.

August 5, 2012

I can't be positive, but I am pretty sure that this was just for me today. It was beautiful, He has impeccable timing. :)

August 4, 2012

At the parade this morning waiting to see Grandma Z. pass by.

August 3, 2012

I made a last minute decision to take the kids to the carnival tonight at 8pm instead of during the day tomorrow like I had planned.  It turned out to be a great decision, no lines and no hot sun and my brother in-law and sister in-law happened to be there at the same time so they helped me chase kids and push the stroller and just made it much more fun. And when the sun went down I drove home with four happy kids.

August 2, 2012

Over there.

August 1, 2012

The boys were cold after swimming at the pool so I wrapped them up in their towels pretty tight. My baby was wrapped so tight that he couldn't get his arms out to eat his Cheetos so his big brother fed them to him. I am pretty sure that is the definition of "brotherly love". :)
