At Lagoon. My favorite quote of the day came from my son when I asked him why he didn't want to go on anymore rides. He said, "Because when I go up in the sky, then I cry." It was a true statement, so after that we left dad and the girls to do the "scary rides" and I took the boys to go on the nice calm rides like "driving" the cars (4 times.) We all had fun though and we will be back to do it again next year.

The boys went fishing this morning with their dad and Poppa. My oldest boy was the first to catch a fish. He was so excited as he reeled it in, but once it came out of the water and started flopping around, he screamed in terror and tried to get away from it. We eventually convinced him to stand near it to get his picture taken. After that he wasn't very interested in catching a fish anymore and he stayed far away when everyone else caught them.
But despite his fear of the fish, he still said "fishin' is fun."

This was our attempt at a family game night. It was short lived. We had differing opinions about the rules and the only instructions in the box were in Spanish. The youngest got tired of sitting, my older boy started taking pieces that weren't his and my oldest girl got bored and quit. So I looked at my other daughter, who was the only one left playing, and said "You won!"

He has been away for work for a couple weeks. We picked him up from the airport this morning. When we got home and were sitting in the kitchen my oldest boy said "Daddy is home and we get to keep him!" And while we don't actually get to keep him (he'll be leaving again in a few weeks) we sure have a good time when he is home.

She is lucky to have a little brother to help her keep the tempo by kicking the bench. :) (I was actually surprised at how long it took before she got mad at him. Either she is really patient or else he needs to try harder at being annoying. Not sure which.)

Here is my girl peaking out the slats of the chair as she sits in "timeout" because she hit her brother. If she doesn't learn to keep her hands to herself, in a few years from now she will be peaking out of the bars of her jail cell for assault and battery.
Oh, I kid, I kid (sort of). :)

He knows that we can't leave for preschool until the big hand is on the 7. He watches the clock and waits. This morning he started watching the clock at 8:30. It was a long 5 minutes.

He loves to talk on the phone to his dad. In fact, if the phone rings, he assumes it is his dad every time and he cries and follows you around trying to get the phone. Today it really was his dad so he got to hold the phone for a little while. He only says a few words that we can actually understand ("daddy" "mommy" "bye" and a few others...) and after he has said all the words he knows he just holds the phone and listens and smiles.

Today he and I had two hours together, just the two of us. All the other kids were at school or preschool. He is a good little buddy and a great grocery shopping partner. He is also a really good horse rider.

She informed me a little while ago that dance class was boring because, in her words, "all we do there is dance." (I did my best not to reply sarcastically "Isn't that so weird that they just dance in a dance class?") She asked if she could do tumbling instead. I figured we might as well give it a try. Today was her first day, she said it was not boring. So far, so good.

By 7:30am this morning each of the children had made their way into my room and into my bed. 7:30! On a Saturday! It is just wrong. I have obviously failed to teach them the art of sleeping in on Saturday mornings.

Brushing his teeth this morning. It is sort of like a hobby for him, he can stand there for 5 or 10 minutes just brushing his teeth. But earlier this week he almost lost all tooth brushing privileges. Apparently he decided it would be a good idea to flush his sister's toothbrush down the toilet. After many failed attempts to get the toothbrush out we finally resorted to removing the whole toilet from the floor. We still couldn't get it out. Not until we hauled the toilet to the backyard and used the hose to flush it with a lot of water did the toothbrush finally come out. So if our neighbors wonder why we had a toilet on our back deck on Sunday night around 11pm, that is why. Good times at our house, good times.

Oh this girl. It has been quite the adjustment for her going to school all day. She wakes up tired and she comes home tired. (And by tired I really mean grumpy.) This morning was our worst morning so far this school year ( I am sure there will be more). She did eventually get up and get dressed (30 minutes after I first woke her up and with a lot of complaining about her pants not "feeling right"). She missed breakfast because she chose to lay in bed instead of waking up so she decided she would bring a little plastic baggie full of lettuce (lettuce?!..there is no explanation) to eat on the bus. Then she couldn't find her backpack (which was right where it always is) she couldn't get her jacket zipped up and then when we finally got to the bus stop she realized she forgot her bag of lettuce. Then the tears came and she told me she couldn't go to school because she was so hungry. Her big sister ran as fast as she could, back home to get the lettuce and ran back to the bus stop just in time to get on the bus. (Oh and instead of just handing her younger sister the lettuce she sort of threw it at her...which really, I can't blame her for.) The bus drove off with my older girl out of breath from running home and my younger girl with tears running down her cheeks holding a baggie of lettuce. At about 10:30 this morning I drove over to the school to check on her and she was fine, just coloring and looking happy. Once she gets to school she is fine but my goodness getting her there is dramatic.

He loves this blanket more than any toy or anything else he owns. And if we would let him, he would take it everywhere he went.

The view from our hotel. Dinner, movie, and a nice hotel. Almost makes up for being 7500 miles apart last month on our 10 year anniversary. :)

Just looking out the window yelling at stuff. (Birds, people, garbage cans, cars...) To him, everything is exciting.

She really wants to learn to cook. She checked out a recipe book from her school library. Today she talked her dad into helping her make cupcakes. The cupcakes turned out good, and she even sort of cleaned up the mess and dishes.

He started preschool today. He has been waiting and watching while the girls have gone off to school and asks daily if it was his "school day" yet. Today it finally was and he was so happy to finally have somewhere to wear his backpack to.

Our last day at the lake the weather was perfect (and the lake wasn't too cold either.) The kids played in the water and built a sand castle with Aunt J. The kids would have stayed there all day if we would have let them. My girls are already planning what they will do the next time we go to Bear Lake.

I had to take advantage of the beautiful surroundings and get a family photo. Taking pictures with kids is never easy, add water and sand to the mix and it gets a lot harder. 10 minutes after this picture all of the kids were either soaked or covered in mud.
(Thanks to my sister for taking the photo.)

Playing games with the family. At one point this weekend we had 17 children and 10 adults (a few were missing) all staying together in one house. Good (loud) times. :)
